An Exclusive Escape Just Outside Nashville
Nestled away from the hum of city life, The Golf Club of Tennessee offers more than just a place to play—it’s a retreat where friendship, sport, and nature converge. Whether enjoying a relaxed lunch on the porch or walking nine holes with no rush, every visit brings a renewed sense of calm.
Turning Vision Into Reality
Over thirty years ago, celebrated golf architect Tom Fazio, alongside his longtime associate Tom Marzolf, received a simple yet ambitious directive: “Create the finest course you can imagine.” Rising to the challenge, they sculpted an extraordinary layout in Kingston Springs, just west of Nashville. Spread across 317 acres of lush forest, rugged ridges, and gentle river valleys, the course offers a rare, uninterrupted golf experience—free from the pressure of set tee times.
Recognition soon followed. In its inaugural year, Golf Digest named it the runner-up for Best New Private Course in America. Today, it remains among Tennessee’s top-ranked courses, earning a place in Golf Week’s list of America’s 100 Best Modern Courses and securing the 167th position in the 2023–24 Second 100 Greatest Courses. The venue has also hosted major tournaments including The Vinny Pro-Celebrity-Am, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup, and the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.
A Layout That Demands and Rewards
Stretching 7,184 yards, Fazio’s design blends challenge with beauty. Zoysia fairways, Bermuda roughs, and smooth A1 bent grass greens enhance the playing experience, while the course’s vast footprint—nearly double the size of a typical 18-hole layout—allows each hole to stand on its own.
Highlights include:
-
Holes 1 and 2 tracing the gentle flow of Brush Creek’s valley.
-
The uphill par-4 third, framed by dense woods and ending at a bluff-top green.
-
A dramatic chasm carry on the par-3 fourth.
-
The river-spanning par-3 eighth and the rocky shoreline ninth.
-
On the back nine, the picturesque par-3 16th over Brush Creek and the dual-fairway par-5 17th offer memorable challenges.
Hospitality With Southern Elegance
At the heart of the property stands a grand 31,000-square-foot clubhouse, designed in classic antebellum style. Inside are a pro shop, spacious locker rooms, inviting dining areas, and four well-appointed guest suites. Expansive verandas overlook the 10th and 18th holes, offering perfect spots to savor post-round moments.
In 2012, the club added the Ingram Cabin—a three-structure retreat featuring two private sleeping cabins and a central great room, all joined by a covered porch with views of the practice grounds. Guests also have access to a 6-acre lighted short-game complex with two Bermuda greens, adding a resort-level training dimension to the stay.
Shaping the Future of the Game
Guided by club president David Ingram—son of co-founder Bronson Ingram—the club continues to evolve. In 2018, David secured 560 additional acres to create a second 18-hole course. Designed by acclaimed architect Gil Hanse, “The Upper” is set to open this year, maintaining the club’s natural character while offering a championship-caliber venue for top amateur events.
David’s lifelong passion for golf, inspired by his late father, fuels his dedication to preserving and expanding the club’s legacy.
